how did i get into fitness?? BIO
Just to give you a little background on where your future trainer came from and where I am going...
I have been a personal trainer since 2001. People often ask me how I got into fitness in the first place, and honestly, the first spark of interest came when I took a weight lifting class my senior year in high school!
There was one other girl, then the whole football team, and ME! I discovered I REALLY liked it! But after high school, it didn't really come into play again until I started working at the Hooters of Greenfield restaurant. We had to squeeze into ridiculous uniforms and do bikini contests and it got to be kind of competitive, so we all did what we could to look our best! I started hitting the gym regularly, which led to buying fitness magazines and dabbling in diet supplements!
After that, I met and started dating a player from the Milwaukee Brewers. His best friend happened to be the strength coach for the team. Getting to work out with a pro athlete and a major league baseball strength coach was educational, exciting, intimidating, and AMAZING! I was like a sponge, watching, learning and loving every minute of it! Dating an athlete also put a little bit of a question mark on where I was going with my career and life at that time! I was always going to different cities to support him and it was tough to hold a regular 8-5 job! So, I started thinking of what I could do that incorporated a flexible schedule AND my NEED to work out all the time! ...so my quest to be a trainer began!!!
A job as the front desk girl at bally total fitness, an ACE certification class, a move to Scottsdale, AZ all quickly followed and I was ACTUALLY doing the job I LOVED! I met TONS of great trainers, athletes, and motivators along the way! I worked for Gold's Gym of North Scottsdale, Ultra Fitness in Fountain Hills, Lifetime Fitness in Gilbert, went though an NASM class, and learned a ton about training and relating to my clients from awesome people such as Michael Hernandez , Gary Kilanowski, and Michelle Wauro over my 5-year stint in AZ. All of the incredibly in- shape bodies that roamed those gyms were my real push to learn as much and be as good as I possibly could!!
When I moved back to Milwaukee, I took a little hiatus from training to regroup and renew my passion for the job! When i resumed, I worked for Squeeze Studio fitness and learned SO much from Shannon Carney and her staff! i credit them for really breathing new life into my game!
For the past 10 years, i have been doing my own thing! I was at Animal House Gym for most of that time and Impact Fitness in oak creek as well! NOW, I am at Cal's Fitness and Performance, (in Slinger, WI) and have several in-home clients as well!
I briefly dabbled in competing in figure in 2011 and have been doing fitness modeling for YEARS!
